Sigvart Dagsland meets one of the most important jazzpianist - Tord Gustavsen

Forfatter: Angela Baltes

It is our great pleasure to present a musical collaboration between our very own Sigvart Dagsland  – one of Stavanger’s greatest musical talents – and the highly acclaimed jazz musician, Tord Gustavsen.

The basis for this project is Sigvart Dagsland’s abundant collection of songs. Dagsland has allowed Gustavsen to pick and choose his favourite songs and has given him carte blanche to rework them. Dagsland tells us that this has been an extremely exciting project. “Tord’s adaptations have lent a whole new dimension to the tunes”, he says, adding that “Tord has added more temperament and lyrical depth to my pieces.” Dagsland places particular emphasis on Gustavsen’s reworking of the more sacred melodies, such as “When the Children Disappeared.” He also draws attention to “A Voice for the Voiceless”, referring to it as one of the recently rearranged songs he is happiest with. The fact that Dagsland’s music has taken on a more sacred tone could not be more fitting, given that this concert is taking place in St. Petri Church. There is every reason to believe that this concert is set to be a unique experience for both Dagsland and his audience.
