Musikklinja i Bjergsted (MDD)

For this year’s Maijazz concert, the music students from Stavanger Cathedral School, Bjergsted, have focused on music genres that they themselves have a relationship with. They challenge themselves in a self-chosen genre by integrating elements from the jazz tradition, both through the process and the concert itself. The musicians focus on contrasts and similarities, in listening, in finding their sound in the interaction with each other and making each other better, and in challenging their understanding of the genre. The young musicians will take the audience on a journey through different types of musical landscape and show us new places that they themselves thought they knew well, but by drawing in jazz elements we will perhaps find some more places where no one has been before?
