The acclaimed jazz trio Maridalen has performed previously at Maijazz, delivering spellbinding musical moments. Naturally, we had to bring them back for this year’s festival—this time with guests!
The band shares a mutual love for Swedish jazz, minimalistic film music, and French impressionism. With the warm, acoustic sound of double bass, trumpet, and woodwinds, the trio creates their own unique musical space. Their soundscape is intimate, transparent, and provides ample room for the musicians to play freely.
Their debut album, entitled “Maridalen”, (2021), received glowing reviews both nationally and internationally. Amongst its accolades, it was featured on the lists for “Best Norwegian Album of the Year” in Aftenposten and “Best Jazz Album of the Year” in Britain’s MOJO Magazine.
Their second album, entitled “Bortenfor”, (2022), and released by Jazzland Recordings, was named “Album of the Week” on the German radio channel, WDR, and listed amongst “The Best Jazz Albums of 2022” in the Norwegian Dagsavisen. Their latest album, *Gressholmen*, has also garnered well-deserved attention from both the Norwegian and international press.
