Camilla Hole is visiting Maijazz with her folk jazz project entitled “Eventyrferd” and featuring the Camilla Hole Trio, Sigrid Moldestad, and Torstein Slåen. This project was born out of a commissioned work for the “Pederhusveka” festival during the summer of 2022, whilst the “Eventyrferd” album was brought to life in the autumn of 2023.
“Eventyrferd” transports its listeners on a journey through traditional tunes and folk melodies from the countryside of Breim, discovered in various archives and books. Each and every melody is transformed into a musical fairy tale through imaginative arrangements and an openness towards play and improvisation. The musicians’ creativity brings a particular nuance to these illustrations and melodies. We are introduced to a wide spectrum of atmospheres and tales. The music floats elegantly between the energetic and the wild, to a dream-like mysticism – just as a true fairy tale journey should do.
