This trio paints a musical universe like no other. When guitarists Alf Terje Hana and Vidar Schanche—both keenly interested in electronics—join forces with electronic musician John Derek Bishop, you can expect a concert where the soundscape is anything but dull!
Alf Terje Hana might well be referred to as an “elder” in Stavanger’s music community. You may have seen him at large stadium concerts or equally in unique collaborations with international musicians such as Gary Husband and Stewart Copeland. He has released critically acclaimed albums under his own name, earning him recognition as “nothing less than a phenomenon,” according to renowned musical journalist Tor Hammerø.
Guitarist and composer Vidar Schanche is a key figure in Norwegian contemporary and improvisational music. With a distinctive approach to the guitar, he creates intense, atmospheric soundscapes. Schanche has collaborated with numerous renowned musicians and composers, including through his work with Kitchen Orchestra. He has released several albums and has toured across Norway, Europe, and Asia. His work spans from contemporary music right through to pop/rock.
John Derek Bishop is a Norwegian-American electronic musician and producer from Stavanger, Norway. He has released seven albums on Jazzland Recordings and was nominated for the Spellemann Award (Norwegian Grammy) for his solo album entitled “I Know This Place.” His albums have received positive reviews in magazines such as Mojo, Prog Magazine, and Future Music. Bishop has collaborated with artists such as Arve Henriksen, Eivind Aarset, Jan Bang, Erland Dahlen, and others. A cornerstone of Bishop’s production is the texture and resonance of sound. He seeks out unconventional sounds, placing the listener in various emotional states.
Together, they create a live experience which you simply cannot remain indifferent to!
