The Norwegian-Brazilian singer Gabriela Garrubo released an excellent album entitled “Rodando” in 2023. The album was born out of a collaboration with the producer Vetle Junker, who has worked with some of the biggest names from Bergen, including Aurora and Sondre Lerche. The result is an album bubbling with creative details and beautiful arrangements. It is the perfect landscape for Garrubo’s voice – light and airy and clear as a bell – which she uses to great effect to tell stories in English and Portuguese. Stories of finding herself and of finding strength in a chaotic, unjust, and beautiful world.
“Rumours have been swirling for quite some time: There is a Norwegian-Brazilian vocalist in Bergen with an extremely special message to convey”, wrote Nettavisen of Gabriela Garrubo’s debut album.
