Knut Reiersrud is a pillar of the Norwegian music scene. A bold and distinctive guitarist who, through his expressive depth and intensity, makes the strings open the soul. As a musician and composer, he shows great versatility and the ability to integrate various musical genres. He has an impressive career spanning several decades, exploring and combining blues, jazz, rock, Norwegian folk music, and influences from various world music traditions.
Reiersrud began his musical journey early and initially made his mark as a blues musician. He has collaborated with a host of international artists, including David Lindley, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Rickie Lee Jones, and Nina Hagen. In addition, he has had significant collaborations with Norwegian musicians such as organist Iver Kleive.
His hard work has resulted in several awards, including the Spellemann award in 1991 for the album “Blå koral” and again in 2004 for “Pretty Ugly.” And as a small aside, it must be mentioned that in 2023 he received the Riksmål Society Listener’s Award for his work in the popular radio program “The Blues Asylum.”
