Keep an eye out for Anna Anderluh! Whilst we may not be very familiar with the Austrian music scene, we are talking here about a versatile singer, composer, improvisational artist, and multi-instrumentalist. She is known for combining delicate, thought-provoking songs with playful experiments and improvisation, all whilst maintaining the accessibility of pop music. Her lyrics, both in English and German, offer a gentle criticism of modern life. She often accompanies her vocals with unusual instruments.
In May 2021, she released her first solo album, “Leave me Something Stupid.” The album explores the necessity of the meaningless, daring, and foolish, bridging fragile poetry and sharp social criticism. Her music, which she describes as “Pop mit Riss” (pop with cracks), floats from delicate, simple melodies to experimental vocal improvisation.
Austrian Anderluh has a broad musical background and has studied jazz and improvised music, as well as vocal physiology, at the Lichtenberg Institute in Germany. Her work is characterized by a genre-crossing approach spanning theatre, music theatre, literature, performance, jazz, improvised music, pop, and new music.
Anna Anderluh’s unique combination of musical skill, experimental curiosity, and stage presence makes her a prominent figure to be reckoned with on today’s European music scene.
