Pianist and composer Øyvind Gjelsten Dale has in recent years distinguished himself as a new, exciting musician in the Norwegian jazz and improvisation scene. He has played on most of the major jazz stages in Norway, and has played at jazz festivals such as Nattjazz, Sildajazz, Kongsberg Jazzfestival and Maijazz. Øyvind is a part of the quartet Significant Time, Dag Magnus Narvesen’s Damana and Simen Kiil Halvorsen’s Scripted Conversations. Øyvind plays regularly with the Kitchen Orchestra in Stavanger, and otherwise he is current with this new trio together with Didrik Ingvaldsen and Paal Nilssen-Love.

Didrik Ingvaldsen – the trumpeter has been one of Stavanger’s most important improvisational musicians for a number of years. As a modern musician with several sensational albums behind him, he has garnered recognition from all corners of the world.

If you have the feeling that Paal Nilssen-Love is present just about everywhere jazz is played, you are just about right. With hundreds of travel days a year and a double-digit number of ongoing projects at all times, you can safely call the man a hard worker. He will be seen at Maijazz on Wednesday 10 May with his own project Circus, and on Saturday 13 May you will hear him at Spor:5 together with Ingvaldsen/Dale/Nilssen-Love.
