Whilst film and actors were very much an integral part of Kyle Eastwood´s childhood and upbringing, his home was also filled with the sounds of Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Miles Davis. This may explain his decision to pursue his passion for music, and for jazz music in particular. The bass is his favourite instrument and Kyle Eastwood has established himself as a masterful musician and an exceptionally talented composer.
In his latest work, entitled “Cinematic”, he unites his two great passions – film and music. Kyle Eastwood has incorporated film music into his jazz world and the result showcases plenty of music from much-loved films. This performance allows the audience to become reacquainted with the music from such cinema classics as Bullitt, Taxi Driver and The Pink Panther. Kyle Eastwood also interprets some of his own favourite composers including Ennio Morricone, Lalo Schifrin and Henry Mancini. The audience is also treated to Kyle´s version of the soundtrack to Gran Torino, which he penned with his father, Clint Eastwood.
Kyle Eastwood closed the Maijazz Festival in 2012. It may have been a cold and rainy evening outside, but inside the packed venue named Stavangeren, the atmosphere was electric and we were truly warmed by his music. We look forward immensely to rekindling our experience with Kyle Eastwood and his band.
