Cécile McLorin Salvant graces Maijazz with her silky jazz sound that earned her winning her second Grammy Award for best jazz vocal album for 2017’s Dreams and Daggers. Salvant’s natural curiosity for the history of American music and the connections between jazz, vaudeville, blues, and folk music, informs her unique performance style, which often includes rarely recorded, forgotten songs with strong stories.
Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Cécile McLorin Salvant moved to Aix-en-Provence, France, to study classical and baroque music, and it was here that she developed a love for jazz. Since winning the Thelonious Monk competition in Washington D.C., she has toured clubs, concert halls and festivals all over the world. This is a not to be missed event at Maijazz
